Emergency Medicine Registrar | Accredited/Unaccredited Positions Start Date: August 2026 | Interviews Currently Being Scheduled We are seeking Emergency Medicine Registrars to join busy Emergency Departments at Darwin's major referral Hospital . Both ACEM accredited and unaccredited registrar positions are available with flexible contracts ranging from 12–36 months. Interviews are currently being scheduled for August 2026 commencement . The Emergency Departments The Emergency Medicine service operates across two major hospitals : Key departmental highlights: The Emergency Department sees approximately 70,000 patients per year Around 25% of presentations are paediatric patients The case mix is unique compared to other tertiary Emergency Departments in Australia Patients are generally younger , with high rates of trauma and severe sepsis Indigenous Australians represent approximately 30% of ED presentations and 50% of hospital admissions The departments provide exposure to complex, high-acuity presentations , including: Severe sepsis Blunt and penetrating trauma Infectious diseases Tropical medicine High burden of chronic and complex disease Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the northwest of Australia , covering a catchment area exceeding 1 million square kilometres . The region also has: One of the youngest populations in Australia (median age 32) The highest per-capita rates of acute rheumatic fever, tuberculosis, blunt trauma and penetrating trauma The Emergency Medicine Team You will be joining a large and well-established department consisting of: 36 Emergency Medicine Consultants 50 Registrars 50 Residents 200 Emergency Nurses Dedicated ED-based allied health and mental health teams Consultants provide: 24-hour availability Strong “on the floor” supervision A supportive, educational and safe working environment There is also a 24-hour registrar presence within the department. Facilities & Clinical Resources Both EDs are well equipped with modern facilities including: 24-hour access to all investigations Two ED-based CT scanners CT scans authorised by ED consultants and registrars ED-based ultrasonography Access to specialised emergency medicine training courses including: APLS ALS MIMMS Working Conditions & Benefits Registrars benefit from structured working conditions and strong educational support. Employment conditions include: 38 hours per week including 3–4 hours protected teaching time Rostered 10-hour shifts Approx. 3 days off per week 7 weeks annual leave Relocation expenses provided 12 weeks subsidised accommodation on arrival Salary: Registrar Year Level 1–6 $122,264 – $153,195 per annum (£60,000-74,000pa) Why Live in Darwin?
